I believe that art is created from the heart, telling a story through the lens—reaching out to memory, emotion and a sense of place. Art understands that travelling is much more than getting to know places. It’s giving full permission to explore the beauty and the wonder, experiencing nature's vivid seasons. Timing, patience and a respect for nature—with the understanding of light and exposures—is everything when creating landscapes and photographing wildlife. When starting Artisan-me, I wanted to make these images available and give customers the opportunity to enjoy the sensory appeal in a fine art print.
Artisan-me Buffalo is a series photographed in the black Hills of South Dakota. I have spent many years capturing images on these wild beautiful plains. All of these buffalo seem to have character and personalities of their own. While keeping proximity, these wildlings roam the western plains and gather at the watering holes. These magnificent animals don't come in half measures. They don't tip-toe lightly. They are a telling portrait of the iconic Bison. Each image is curated and mindfully titled from the playlist of my imagination. These beautiful animals represent my vision of South Dakota’s genuine beauty, freedom, solitude and nature.
